1. How much roughly the taxi price from District 1 HCMC (Pham Ngu Lao area to be exact) to Chu Chi Tunnel? And how long is the journey?
2. Other than taxi, is there any public bus operate between the two places? What number? I don't mind to explore as long as I know roughly where to stop =D
3. Is there an entrance fee to the tunnel? How much will it cost?
Thank you all in advance!!
cheers,
Pauli

It's about 40km as the crow flies. I went on the back of a motorbike (my partners) which was ok but my back side felt like it had fought a war by the time i got back to HCMC. I'd make sure the seat is well padded if you decided to go this route.
There are two sections that most tourist go to.... the one that is near the village of Ben Dinh and the other is some distance beyond (on the same road) at Ben Duoc. I went to Ben Duoc. Yes, there is a entrance fee payable.
To be frank, I would go on a tour. Most I've looked at since are very cheap and they do the biz. Unless you have a real reason for not doing so. It's definitely the way I would go. There are tours that go to Cao Dai temple in the morning and the tunnels in the afternoon.

Thanks for your reply 69bertie =)
Yup I would go with a tour also if not becoz of my flight that arriving in HCMC at 9am (It'll be late already since morning tour starts at 8am). And I only have 1 day in HCMC to walk around.

The tour you were referring was from SinhTourist (prev SinhCafe) right? I'm actually inquiring them also whether they provide afternoon tour to ChuChi Tunnel, if yes then it'll be great ^^
But I still need some backup plan don't you think ;)
So how to rent a motorbike there? For how much... and how long the ride took? Considering the long hours notes you made =D

I see your problem..... and that is assuming the flight lands on time..
As the airport is sort of in the right direction you need to go from HCMC to get to the tunnels, another option would be to go direct from there but it won't be cheap in a taxi for a single traveller.
I've seen tours advertised that go pm, so I don't think you'll have a problem getting one. And don't forget that 40km as the crow flies will probably be nearer 60km, maybe more, by the time you take into account the road network here.
As to getting a motorbike taxi at the airport, piece of cake really. Just wander over to the bike park, there are always people hanging around offering to take you nigh on anywhere (can't recall ever being asked whether I wanted a motorbike when I've exited the terminal, so don't expect to find one there). And whether they would run as far as Cu Chi tunnels..........

What you would do with your bags is another thing to think about. :-) A tour would be better all round. Back up plan....take the city tour! That goes pm too!
